Books
I was readin' in my study room sometime last week when I took a short break from my two hours of readin'. My piles of books caught my eyes. They were all beggin' and screamin' for me to read them asap. My files of Phsyics and Chemistry ( and some other ) notes were collectin' dust ever since I last touched it last year.I gave my readin' up for a short while and started to clean the huge mess. An hour later, my study table's all cleaned up! What left of are my fourteen -excludin' three more new library-books. That means I've seventen books to read , which I'm readin' one now , that left me with sixteen books.
Oh why oh why did I just realize I've THAT much of books to read ? If I were to notice it eons ago, I wouldnt have being complainin' that I'm bored to death at home. Now with my holidays are numbered, I really have to cramp all seventeen books within this time span. 'Cause when I start school, I couldnt carry on readin' religiously , or could i ? We'll see.
But seventeen books are no joke for me. 'Cause Hyun called me yesterday exclamin' happily on the other line that there's thirty percent sale off Harris selected books. Oh boy , you do know what's that suppose to mean now don't you ? I just hope mum won't give in when I beg her for moonlans this week. 'Cause why ? If she do gives in , I predict I'll have twenty odds books beggin' to be read.
So keep your fingers crossed and let's hope mum won't give in. But might as well I don't ask for money , no ? But the thought of me NOT askin' mum for money for books is so unlike me. I would rather have the thoughts that SHE won't give me the moonlans when she look on my table top. Heh. She and dad shook their heads when I came home last week with three new library books.
'' Whaaaat ? Jangan cakap nak tarik akak nyer library card ehk!''
'' You just gave me an idea akak!'' dad grinned.
'' NEVAHHHHHHHHHH! ''
'' Baca bukunyer jangan tak baca'' the same 'ol advice from mum.
'' Tahu''
I guess I got it from both of my parents. Just that the dad loves his newspaper. He loves it so much that it ticks him off whenever someone else reads his newspaper before him. He'll come into my room askin' loudly who the heck just read his papers, he wouldn't believe it when I said it wasn't me.( I don't even know why the heck he always ask me first when I don't LIKE readin' papers, be it the Malayu ones or the English ones. ) He'll just wait for someone to own up. Sometimes the mum or ocassionally his mum would own up. I don't know how he knows someone read his paper. But he's always right when it comes to his papers , 'cause just two weeks ago I was read his papers ( 'cause I was lookin' at Aresenal's points which was at the back page of his Berita Harian and he still knew i read it - I swear I put it back nicely! ) and I was given hell. Don't mess around with guy and their papers, I guess. God, how weird that sounds. =x
I remembered how mum would buy English books every two weeks when I was still a toodler. She made sure I'll have a new sets of books to be read over the weekends or before I go to bed. I'll be at her heels every Friday to Sunday repeatin' new words that I've just learnt. And from Monday on, I'll start my kindergarden school boastin' my new found words. Mum told me that it was the dad that reinforced the English language when I started Primary One. I hate Malayu ever since I started Primary school. I guess it's just not in me naturally.( Or may be it has been imbued in me since young ) Which is funny 'cause the mum is especially good in that subject.
Whatever it is, my command in English may not be superb or especially over the damn top, but I'm glad my love for readin'/books is still as strong as ever. 'Cause through readin' nonfiction or fiction books, I'll learn lessons that I could never learn in the classrooms. Readin' sure bordens the mind , 'cause sometimes I could really relate to the character in the book. I found myself sayin '' Oh woo, I just faced that.'' or '' Oh my god, that's what I felt when blahblhblah.'' and I'm glad , somehow or rather , the parents planted the love for books/readin' since I was a kid. And oh boy , how they regret it now. Heh heh
... imma geek!
